9TH ANNUAL RUN EVENT IN GUTHRIE, OKLAHOMA TO BENEFIT FREE TO LIVE

GUTHRIE, OKLAHOMA, June 3, 2017: The 9th annual “The See Spot Run” will take place in downtown Guthrie, Oklahoma. This 5K, 10K, and 1-mile run/walk event continues to benefit Free to Live, a non-profit animal sanctuary located in Edmond, Oklahoma (www.freetoliveok.com).

2017 is the 9th year for this annual running event which was created in memory of Chris Cowden, a long-time Guthrie resident and animal rights advocate, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on May 17, 2008. In the past 7 years of this event “The See Spot Run” has collectively welcomed more than 3,000 runners from all over the State of Oklahoma and raised $40,000 for the Free to Live Animal Sanctuary. In memory of his passion for the rescue and fair treatment of all animals, in addition to his zeal for running and athletics, the Cowden Family and friends created the “The See Spot Run” to honor Chris’ animal advocacy efforts and legacy. Through this annual sporting event, they have continued to promote in Chris’ memory an increased awareness of animal rights and the lasting support of non-profit animal organizations such as Free to Live.

The year’s event is changing the start time to 6:45pm (Kid's fun run) & 7:30pm (5k & 10K) in an effort to enhance the celebratory aspect at the finish line. Festive food and drink will be available! As always, “The See Spot Run” will offer participants the opportunity to compete in either the 5K or 10K event in addition to a 1-mile “Fun Run”. Walkers and runners (both 2 and 4 legged) are welcome and can register directly at www.theseespotrun.com. Donations for this event can also be sent to “The See Spot Run” P.O. Box 292, Guthrie, Oklahoma, 73044.
